Praise: Proclaiming the Glory of God – Day 5 Mountain Former

Exalt the Lord our God,
and worship at his holy mountains,
For the Lord our God is holy!

Psalm 99:9

Soaring heights and valleys low,
Nature’s praises always flow.

Mountains—with soaring heights, unpredictable weather, and often insurmountable access—have commanded much wonder, respect and even reverence throughout the ages. Their formidable peaks represent power, permanence, and a place to meet the divine. They have inspired musicians, artists, and seekers of both adventure and the sacred.

Our Heavenly Father formed the mountains (Amos 4:13) and covered them with water (Genesis 7:19). With loving faithfulness, he spent time with Abraham, Moses, and Elijah on the craggy summits, and on a mountain he established his city and his temple. But even the great heights cannot separate us from his faithful love (Romans 8:39). In his love, our Father gives us Jesus, the Son of the Most High, whom he puts on the throne to reign over his never-ending kingdom (Luke 1:32).

Pause and take time to admire the snow-capped heights, the jagged pinnacles, the ever-changing landscapes of a mountain. Consider its jaw-dropping views and majestic vistas. Notice the foliage and fauna as well as the details and colors of the rock formations. What might our Father be speaking to you in this moment?

Praise our Heavenly Father for the soaring mountains that display his glory. Praise him for his Son, Jesus, the Son of the Most High.

Pray.

Heavenly Father,
You are the Mountain Former.
Let my praises for you unceasingly pour forth.
Amen.

About Jill English Johnston

God writes His story on every heart, if we only pause to read it. My heart has lived in a fantasy world since early childhood and am delighted that God has finally brought me to the place where I can bring the fantasies to life through story. I am currently working on a fantasy trilogy (of course) but I also post thoughts, reflections and (hopefully) inspiration to my website: tabletsofhumanhearts.wordpress.com I am a follower of the Rabbi Jesus, married to my best friend and inspiration, and the mother of three incredible children, one daughter and two sons, a son-in-love, a daughter-in-love and two adorable granddaughters. When not writing, I passionately pursue prayer, reading (never enough time to read them all!), and the outdoors. My husband and I both served in the US Navy and have lived/travelled through many states and all over Asia. We both still enjoy travelling, but we really love our home in New Braunfels, located at the Texas Hill Country.
